TERM 3:
First three weeks rehearsals:
Monday 3 August, Monday 10 August, Monday 17 August all 5.30 p.m. - 7.00 p.m.
Thereafter: Sunday 1.30 p.m. - 4.00 p.m. from 6 September - Sunday 20 September
TERM 4: WEDNESDAY 5.00 P.M. - 7.00 P.M.
SUNDAY 10.00 A.M. - 1.00 P.M.
Ages 9 - 18 years: $450 incl GST for tuition and performances Terms 3 and 4. A payment plan is available upon application.
Ages 6 - 8 years: $270 inc GST for tuition and performances Term 3 and 4. A payment plan is available upon application.
All rehearsals are held at the CMTS Studio located at 90 Springs Road, East Tamaki. All performances are at The Uxbridge Arts and Culture Centre, Uxbridge Road, Howick. Not all cast will be required at all rehearsals in Term 3.
The cast is divided into two age groups 6 - 8 year olds and 9 - 18 year olds. The youngest aged group is not required at all rehearsals. Their rehearsal schedule is Sundays only 10.00 a.m. - 11 a.m. for Term 3. November rehearsals in Term 4 Sundays only 10.00 a.m. - 12.00 p.m. From December 6 (Production Week) both age groups rehearse together.

Character Breakdown
DOROTHY GALE: female (Mezzo/Mix)
Young Kansas girl, earnest, expressive, and strong-willed, in search of something more. Very strong singer who moves well.
HUNK / SCARECROW: male (Baritone)
Plucky and clever in a pinch, even while lacking a brain. Strong actor with an honest quality. Excellent dancer – acrobatic skills a bonus.
HICKORY / TIN MAN: male (Baritone/Tenor)
Desperate for a heart. A kind-hearted romantic. Singing and dance required.
ZEKE / COWARDLY LION: male
A mix of bravado and cowardice. Should move well. Cuddly actor with excellent comic timing.
ALMIRA GULTCH / WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST: female
Character villain with an over-the-top stage presence. Excellent comic actress, has a killer cackle. Sings comically but doesn't have to sound good.
PROFESSOR MARVEL / THE WIZARD: male
Older father figure with an eccentric flair. Basic conjuring or sleight of hand a bonus. Non-Singing.
GLINDA: female (Soprano)
Glinda is the Good Witch of the North. Benevolent and beloved. Strong singer.
AUNT EM: female
Aunt Em is demanding, but loves her niece.
UNCLE HENRY: male
Dorothy’s pleasant uncle. Non-singing.
EMERALD CITY GUARD: male (Baritone)
Strong comic actor, big presence.
MUNCHKINS: boys and girls, 6 and over
The little people of Munchkinland. Long oppressed, and happy to be freed, the Munchkins will be played by children. Group singing and coordinated movement required. Dance experience a plus. There are some featured roles among the munchkins, such as The Coroner, The Lollipop Guild, and The Lullaby League.
WINKIES / FLYING MONKEYS / OZIANS / ADULT MUNCHKINS: all ages
The “adult” chorus of the show, with featured speaking/vocal/dancing roles available. Singing and movement required.
POPPIES: all ages
Ballet a bonus (but not necessary)
JITTERBUGS: all ages
